Cash on delivery, bank transfer, digital wallets and payment gateways: when each suits your store, and how to combine them without complexity.
The payment method can be the only reason a ready buyer cancels. The right option differs by market and by product. Here is a practical look at what small and mid-sized stores in the region can use.
Cash on delivery
Still the most trusted option for a new customer. It lifts conversion early on, but needs order confirmation before shipping to reduce cancellations.
Bank transfer and digital wallets
In Yemen local wallets and transfers are widespread; in Saudi Arabia direct bank transfer. The practical flow: the store shows the account or wallet number, the customer uploads the receipt, and the merchant confirms the payment in the dashboard before shipping.
Online payment gateways
Cards, mada and Apple Pay require a payment gateway and a contract with its provider. Worth it when order volume grows and more buyers come from outside your city — but not a requirement to start selling.
- Start with at least two options: cash on delivery, and transfer with receipt.
- Write the transfer instructions clearly on the payment page itself.
- Confirm every payment before shipping, and record it on the order.
- Add a gateway once manual confirmation becomes a daily burden.
Cut the steps between "I want this" and "order placed" — every extra step loses a customer.
